The Best Self Emptying Robot Vacuum
The best self-emptying robot vacuum features the base that holds a month's worth of debris and automatically empty. It also creates a detailed map of your home and allows you to label rooms and establish "no-go" zones.
It also has superior ability to avoid obstacles, meaning that it can stay away from power cords and rogue sock.
Roomba s9+ iRobot from iRobot
This robot is a premium model from iRobot and it performs very well. It is able to maneuver easily across a variety of surfaces and is extremely efficient at taking in dust, dirt, and debris. It's also extremely sturdy and looks good as well.
The S9 is iRobot’s latest premium S Series robot vacuum. It boasts a few extra features that make it distinct from other models. For example, the iRobot app makes use of the camera in this unit to create a map of your home which allows it to navigate and clean efficiently.
It can also automatically return to the location where it left off if its battery gets depleted during cleaning and you don't need to waste time re-cleaning the same spots. You can also start and stop cleaning sessions with a simple voice command or using the iRobot app. The smart vacuum can even clean in the dark!
Carpet Boost is another great feature. It gives the S9 more suction power when it comes into contact with carpeting, so it will be able to pick up more dirt. It also features the square front design, which is more close to the corners and walls than older round designs. This model doesn't work well with shag or high-pile carpeting.
During our tests, we observed that the iRobot S9+ cleaned thoroughly and efficiently a variety of floor surfaces including hard and medium-pile carpets. It also performed well on vinyl, and laminate flooring. It also did a great job of navigating around objects and furniture, although it did struggle with stairs, and can accidentally crash into things like bookcases.
We loved the fact that the S9 automatically returns to its base to empty its dust bin when it's full, which significantly reduces hands-on maintenance needs. The dust bag should last for around 30 loads, or around two months, and you'll have to replace the filter once every few months (which is actually recommended by iRobot). The iRobot S9+ is not very noisy when it operates making it a great choice for families with pets or children.
Eufy RoboVac Hybrid X8
Robot vacuum cleaners are designed to do the work for you and can be used to remove carpets and hardwood floors. The best ones can be monitored and controlled via an app on your smartphone and some include mopping tech for kitchen and bathroom floors. They're a great solution for busy families, and they're becoming more affordable than ever. However, if you want the latest features on your robotic cleaner, you'll need to pay a little more.
The Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid is an all-in-one vacuum and mopping machine which makes it a great choice for those who live in a house with multiple floors. Dual motors provide it with an impressive cleaning capacity and the 0.6l dustbin can store plenty of pet hair. The dustbin can be easily removed and emptied which is great since you'll need to do this frequently.
It's easy to set it up too, although I recommend fully charging the X8 Hybrid before running it for the first time. You'll need to install the Eufy Home app and follow the directions for connecting it to your Wi-Fi network. Once you've done this, the app will help you create a precise map of your home. Rooms can be named, divide large spaces into smaller rooms (good for open-plan living) and direct the X8 Hybrid to specific areas that need cleaning at a given time. Other robots also have similar mapping and scanning functions, but Eufy's application feels more refined and intuitive than other models.
The X8 Hybrid has a great feature: you can turn on the mop or vacuum cleaner via voice thanks to its integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. This is a great feature that makes the robot more hands-free. It was very effective in our test house.
Like many robotic vacuums, the X8 Hybrid has some issues with floors that are not clean. It is prone to miss pet hair and small objects, and it is prone to bump into things, like its own charger that sits on its base for charging. It's not as quiet as other models we've tried, and the whirring noise could be distracting.
Roborock V3S Pro
This robot doesn't have the same number of features as some of the more expensive models we tested, however it does have the basics covered. It has a huge dust bin which can hold a lot of dirt before it needs to be empty. The mop and vacuum system is great for both carpets with hard floors as well as carpets with low pile. It's also super quiet and we could watch TV while it was cleaning without feeling like it was blasting us with the sound.
Our testers were impressed by how simple it was to set up and use, and they were impressed by its capacity to take all the mess off their flooring. It did a good job getting rid of pet hair, messes, and carpeting however it was a bit more difficult at removing stubborn stains. The app was simple to use and user-friendly. They could set up the vacuum to clean frequently to reduce the amount of manual work. The only drawback is that it doesn't have any mapping technology or object avoidance, so you can't direct it to specific rooms or follow virtual boundaries (though magnetic boundary strips work).
Another model from iRobot's low-cost line that is the V3S Pro has some impressive features for the money. It beat out all other robot vacuums we tested when it comes to finding and avoiding obstacles and it's the best budget pick for those looking for a cleaner self-emptying robotic vacuum that is able to handle pet hair and messes both on carpets with low pile and hardwood floors. It is also very quiet and has a huge dust bin which can hold a lot before it needs to be emptied.
The V3S Pro did not make it into our top choice lists of trusted sources who perform hands-on tests, but it received high marks from Modern Castle, Smart Robot Reviews and The Ambient. The V3S Pro was simple to use and set up, but the battery life was a bit short.
Roborock Q Revo
The Q Revo is a solid low-cost robot vacuum and mop that isn't slack on features or prices. You'll find many of the features that you'll find on high-end models, including intelligent navigation and mapping, without spending a fortune. You can also use voice commands via Alexa, Google Assistant, or Apple Siri shortcuts to create custom automations, and then start cleaning remotely while you're away.
Roborock has taken its time to design this innovative cleaner. As a result, the product is extremely solid and feels like it was made with premium materials. Its base is stable and solid and has the charging port built into the battery. On the top is the dock for the clean water tank and dirty water bins. Under those, you'll find an enclosure that houses the sealed vacuum bag.
Once you pair your device with the app, you'll get the map in 3D or 2D of your home that shows where your robot is currently located and what area it's cleaning. You can also create virtual barriers to ensure that the robot isn't in certain areas and ensure that it only cleans specific kinds of floors. It is also able to adjust its power settings according to the floor type that is being cleaned. Select the most efficient cleaning method.
In contrast to other robot vacuums that are available, the Q Revo is able to lift both mops while it's vacuuming to ensure that your carpet doesn't get stained fibres. It's actually one of the few vacuums that can accomplish this.
When it comes to mopping the Q Revo's 5500Pa suction capabilities can be enough to take out dust particles or pet hair strands and other debris. The all-rubber brush can be excellent at separating hair of animals and humans, as well as adapting to uneven surfaces.
The only drawback to this device is that it takes an extended time to fill and empty both the clean and dirty tanks. Luckily, you can reduce the frequency of this by using the auto-empty feature that will automatically empty the robotic hoovers bin after a couple of days. You'll still need to monitor the levels of water in the dock manually, though, as there isn't an automatic reminder.
